Tulip bulbs
Planting spring bulbs is the best way to close out the growing season! They also make wonderful gifts, as-is or potted into a pretty container to bloom outside or force inside in the spring.
These Dutch grown bulbs will overwinter and produce potent spots of color in mid to late spring, to be enjoyed in a vase or in the garden. This year I went light on tulips so went for a unique mix of single, parrot, and one fancy “double” tulip that opens into ruffled blooms much like peonies. Tulips are not deer & rodent resistant (but the bulbs are toxic to dogs) so they must be planted in a protected place to keep them away from all sorts of nibbling critters.
Bulbs are sold in bags of ten (10) and need to be planted before the end of December so their roots can start growing!
