what people are saying:
Annika exceeded our expectations! She was on time and professional. She transformed an empty greenhouse into a beautiful, lush setting and the dinner table looked like something out of a magazine. We LOVED the bridal bouquet, the suspended greenery over the aisle, the cut bamboo greenery for the greenhouse walls, and the floor arrangements. We’re grateful for all the work the Hazel Design team did to make our wedding magical.
— Cassie, Seattle bride
Annika was wonderful to work with and helpful from the planning stages to the day of wedding installation. She was available for phone consults, in-person meeting at the venue and emails. We received so many compliments and everyone was excited to take home florals at the end of the evening. We highly recommend her for all floral needs!
— Karena, Camano Island bride
Choosing Hazel Designs was one of the best decisions we made for our big day. From the moment we discussed our vision, Annika showed an unparalleled commitment to making it a reality. The attention to detail was impeccable, and every arrangement reflected her passion for the craft. It's evident that she takes pride in her work, and it truly made our celebration memorable. If you're looking for a florist who not only meets but exceeds expectations, this is the one. Thank you for making our day absolutely stunning!

What sets us apart:
You’re hiring an artist. I bring flare, confidence, inventiveness, and a nuanced sense of color and texture to every job, but not a big ego. I really listen to each client to understand what they are looking for and how to make their event an unmistakeable representation of who they are. No two celebrations are alike, so your design feels like a poem written just for you.
Sustainable practices are at the core of our work. I source seasonal, local and west-coast flowers; never use plastic floral foam; and employ a variety of re-usable, recyclable or compostable mechanics to build our floral art pieces. Flowers may be donated to the local senior center after an event. Locally-sourced, seasonal blooms have a very minimal carbon footprint and you’re supporting local farms that truly care for the soil and water they use. I’m a proud member of Emerald Hour and Slow Flowers, as well as a new Bellingham-based farmer-florist guild, Field To Floral. These groups share resources that enable florists, growers and other vendors to produce more earth-friendly and sustainable events.
Flowers and garden design. We can coordinate your florals with container plantings or a special tree to mark the event, or use live plants in a floral design for you to plant later. We even help clients plant their own gardens with loads of blooms, timed for their event! These botanical elements won’t just be a flash in the pan - they will memorialize your event for years to come.
DIY coaching and instruction available. If you want to get your own hands on the flowers, we offer cut flower buckets and private workshops for your family and friends to arrange flowers.
