Garden Consultation or Coaching Session
An INITIAL CONSULTATION PACKAGE pairs a site visit (in person or virtually) with a discussion of needs, desires and visions. Follow-up notes include a summary; inspiration photos to jog your imagination and tease out viable options for your style, budget and time frame; a sample planting palette with links to images; and several loose sketches to illustrate layout possibilities. On-going support and coordination throughout the installation process is also offered. Initial consultation packages are $350, and additional design time is billed at $85/hour.
COACHING OR CONSULTATION SESSIONS are perfect if you already have a basic idea of what needs attention in your landscape. We visit your garden and engage a range of recording, planning and design techniques to arrive at a fitting plan for your space, addressing questions as they come up. Coaching sessions can be scheduled on a routine basis or as a one-time thing. We offer a focused consultation session at $95/hour (additional sessions are $85/hour).
Our clients expect well-researched, intuitive designs that are rooted in first-hand knowledge of sustainable landscape installation and maintenance, and suited to the soils and weather of Western Washington. We provide you with hand drawn sketches and a master plan layout with links to plant information and references to local suppliers. If you are hiring landscape contractors, we offer liaison/client advocate/communication services to help the design-to-installation process run as smoothly as possible.

The first steps to designing a new area is to figure out what you want and what is possible. The initial consultation package will walk you through those steps with a collaborative design approach! If you’re interested in a DIY project we can set you up with the resources you need and a general plan to get started; it’s equally valuable if you want to work on separate phases over time or if you’re handing it off to contractors.
We’ll start with a garden walk-through and brainstorming session where you can share your dreams and intentions for using your outdoor space. We’ll follow up by sharing inspiration photos, websites, links or Pinterest boards, and then I will put together a planting palette, material options, and a hand-drawn map of your garden space with several alternate design schemes. Once you’ve chosen a direction you can hire us to develop it further and give you an accurate plant and materials list (further consulting and design is billed at $75/hour).
